The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.
The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and said they would have âno further comment at this timeâ.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the second round.
No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.
Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and five yearsâ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
On the field, he finished the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
